Women in Leadership Team:
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America
The WIL program directly impacts our community.

Interns in the 2016-2017 cohort worked with Moms Demand Action, an organization focused on preventing gun violence. MDA was most focused on generating student involvement in the movement and diversifying their organization.

In response, the WIL interns, Emma, Anay, Camille, Stephanie, and Cierra, developed and launched a Registered Student Organization (RSO) focused on student engagement in issues surrounding the prevention of gun violence. They also organized several events to help promote the new RSO and ensure its success.

The organization, called Students Against Gun Violence, launched in April, 2017. Through sponsored meet & greet events, raised awareness, and generated interest and buy-in across campus.

The work of these WILL Interns created a new resource for students to be heard about important issues and gave MDA a broader reach in our community.
